Tom Maxwell, the person behind Battle Candy

Tom Maxwell

Software engineer since 2012

Hi, I’m Tom. The person behind Battle Candy.

I’m Tom Maxwell, a one-man band bringing research, writing, design and development together. When we work on your website, you’ll speak directly with the person planning and building it.

I’ve been a software engineer since 2012. Along the way, I’ve learned design, marketing and copywriting, driven by curiosity and a desire to build useful tools and products.

What that means for your project

Start with your business

I work directly with you to understand your services and the questions your customers need answered. That shapes the content and enquiry routes.

Bring the disciplines together

Research-backed planning, writing, design and development inform each other throughout the work.

Use tools with human judgement

I build AI-integrated tools to support writing, design and development. Human review and correction stay part of every stage.

What it’s like to work with me

Jake’s perspective comes from working with me for more than ten years across several of his businesses, and later on a freelance basis.

Tom has worked for me directly for over 10 years across several of my businesses, which shows how highly I rate him; I’ve always taken him with me. Not only is he a great character and team player, he has always gone above and beyond to make sure tasks and deadlines are met. He thinks outside the box to find solutions, and rather than just cracking on, he contributes his own research and ideas on how we can be more efficient and do things better.

He’s not your typical cliché developer who likes to sit in a dark corner coding without interacting. Tom has always worked well as part of a team and never shies away from others. He’s a man of strong morals and carries himself with real integrity.

Since Tom went off on his own ventures, I’ve used him multiple times on a freelance basis and wouldn’t hesitate to use his services again.
